Your privacy matters to us.
The Human-Canine Alliance, Inc. ("TH-CA," "we," "us," or "our") was built on trust — between people, dogs, and the rescues that care for them. We take that same trust seriously when it comes to your personal information.

Your rights & controls
You are in control of your data. You can edit any information in your profile at any time directly from your profile settings — including your intake answers, contact details, and preferences. You can also delete your account directly from your profile settings, which permanently and irreversibly removes all personal data from our systems. To opt out of non-essential emails, use the unsubscribe link in any email we send you. For additional assistance, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
What we collect
Guardians (people seeking a dog): Name, email address, city/state/zip, lifestyle information (activity level, housing type, work schedule, household members), wellbeing context (primary challenges, support systems, goals), dog preferences (size, energy, age), and an optional profile photo. We also collect anonymous analytics events (page views, feature interactions) to improve the platform.
Rescue organizations: Organization name, contact email, phone, address, city/state/zip, website, logo, adoption process details, transport capabilities, and dog profiles. Rescue org data may be sourced from the RescueGroups.org public API and is refreshed automatically every Sunday.
Authentication: We use Manus OAuth for sign-in. We store your OAuth identifier, name, and email address. We do not store passwords.
We do not collect financial information, government IDs, or sensitive medical records.
How we use it
Your data is used to:
- Power our AI-assisted human-canine matching algorithm
- Share relevant match information with rescue organizations
- Send you weekly match digest emails (if you opt in)
- Send transactional emails (meet-and-greet confirmations, adoption milestones)
- Send rescue organizations outreach and platform update emails
- Improve platform features through aggregated, anonymized analytics
We never sell your data to third parties, use it for advertising, or share it outside the matching process without your explicit consent.
Who sees your information
When you are matched with a dog, the rescue organization caring for that dog receives a curated compatibility summary — not your raw intake answers. Rescue staff see only what is necessary to facilitate the adoption conversation. Your wellbeing context (e.g., anxiety, grief) is never shared verbatim. See a sample match to understand exactly what a rescue receives.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:
- Manus OAuth — authentication (sign-in)
- Amazon S3 — file storage (logos, profile photos)
- SMTP email provider — transactional and outreach email delivery
- RescueGroups.org API — public rescue organization and dog data
- Manus LLM API — AI-powered matching and prescription generation (server-side only; your data is not used to train models)
- Manus Analytics — anonymous page-view and interaction tracking
Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We do not share personally identifiable information with any service beyond what is operationally necessary.
Email communications
We send the following types of email:
- Transactional (cannot be unsubscribed): account confirmation, meet-and-greet confirmations, adoption milestone emails. These are sent only in direct response to your actions.
- Commercial / opt-out: weekly match digests, new match notifications, rescue outreach emails. Every commercial email includes an unsubscribe link. You may opt out at any time.
Our physical mailing address is: 1605 Old NC 18, Morganton, NC 28655. This address appears in the footer of every commercial email we send, as required by the CAN-SPAM Act.
How we protect it
All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your profile is restricted to authenticated sessions only. We use industry-standard practices for session management and credential storage. Our infrastructure is hosted on SOC 2 compliant cloud services.
Data retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personally identifiable information is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely. Email delivery logs are retained for up to 90 days for operational troubleshooting.
Beta program notice
The Human-Canine Alliance platform is currently operating as a closed beta, limited to approximately 500 guardian accounts. During this period, data practices, features, and these policies may evolve. We will notify all registered users of any material changes before they take effect. This policy will be updated prior to any public launch beyond the beta cohort.
Children's privacy
The Human-Canine Alliance platform is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.
California & EU residents
If you are a California resident (CCPA) or in the EU/UK (GDPR), you have additional rights: the right to know what data we hold, the right to have it deleted, the right to opt out of any sale (we do not sell data), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. To submit a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
This policy applies to the TH-CA platform at app.humancaninealliance.com and all associated subdomains. By using our platform, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. We may update this policy periodically — we will notify registered users of material changes via email.
